Master djembist Weedie Braimah continues his remarkable ascent in the music world with two fresh Grammy nominations announced this past Friday. The percussionist earned recognition for Best World Music Album as co-producer with Senegalese legend Youssou N'Dour, and Best Jazz Vocal Album for his work with Terri Lyne Carrington & Christine Dashiell.

These nominations add to Braimah's 2022 Grammy nod for Best Instrumental Solo with Christian Scott for the track "Sakoundougou" from his critically acclaimed debut album "The Hands of Time" (2021), which TIME Magazine featured among the year's top 10 albums.

The son of Ghanaian drum master Oscar Sulley Braimah, Weedie represents the evolution of African percussion in contemporary jazz, bridging West African traditions with modern fusion, funk, and hip-hop on world stages.
