At the age of 17, he began his studies at the Instituto Superior de Arte, in Havana.
Parallel to his academic studies, he begins to stand out with work in different genres of Cuban popular music and Jazz.
The influence of the classical school in his career occupies an important place in his training as a pianista important place in his training as a pianist, as can be seen in the discography in which he has participated.
His artistic talent has allowed him to collaborate in musical productions for theatre, cinema and television. Since 1989 he has been the musical director of Pablo Milanés with whom he has maintained a close artistic relationship.
