José Carlos Gómez was 3 years old when he fell in love with the flamenco guitar when he saw Paco de Lucía on television and since then his life has revolved around the instrument and he began to give concerts as a soloist when he was only 11 years old, performing his own songs and those of Paco de Lucía.
By the time he was 16, Jose Carlos was already a well-known guitarist in Cadiz, accompanying outstanding singers of the time in Andalusia and beginning his first trips abroad, giving guitar recitals in Paris and London to great public acclaim. A year later, with the help of his admired Paco de Lucía, he made his first recordings and television appearances. Moraito Chico would say of him "that boy really plays Paco's stuff well". That year, at the age of 17, he became the undisputed winner of the first "Ramón de Algeciras" Guitar Competition held in Getafe, Madrid.
Since then, José Carlos Gómez's talent has been applauded on many stages. Accompanying the greatest cantaores as well as being part of stage projects with the Ballet Región de Murcia or the Ballet Nacional de España, touring the most important theatres in the world and featuring his name as composer of some of the works in the repertoire of the stage productions.
He has collaborated on albums and original compositions for Duquende, Niña Pastori, Marina Heredia, Armando Manzanero, Alejandro Sanz, Serrat, Sara Baras, etc., as well as music for films.
In 2010 he released his first album singing, entitled José Carlos Gómez, and some time later a second album with duets with Miguel Poveda, Pastora Soler or the Colombian singer Santiago Cruz, an album in which he included the guitar piece "Copla de Lucía" in homage to Maestro Paco de Lucía who said of him "he has surprised me by the good taste he has and the quality of what he is doing".
Years of his own productions will continue, but also others for artists, long studio sessions, concerts, international collaborations and new artistic projects such as his most recent production, an album-book in which he pays tribute to Paco de Lucía through music and in which he narrates shared experiences.
